2006 Services of the International Association of Black Travel Writers
1) IABTW has professional travel writers available to write stories for
print and broadcast media. Our members can do press trips, cover
festivals and participate in events and meetings related to travel
and/or multiculturalism. Some IABTW members can assist with travel
and multicultural research projects.
2) IABTW professionals in different fields of travel, multiculturalism
and the hospitality industry are available for lectures, forums,
workshops and panel discussions. Some members are scholars, travel
professionals and tour guides who can provide educational and travel
information on Africa, cities and countries of the African Diaspora and
African Diaspora Heritage Sites. IABTW has members who are very
knowledgeable about black lifestyles and culture in Europe and other
countries.
3) An on-line magazine, as well as, a conference network for travel
writers and professionals are in the works. The IABTW is publishing a
yearly travel guide targeted toward people of African descent. We also
do a monthly travel newsletter to keep our members and other partner
organizations informed of what's going on in the travel industry.
4) We also provide networking and other opportunities for growth in
the travel field for our members. IABTW inspires and provides
opportunities for teens and college students to become
interested in travel and travel writing. We also offer guidance and
training to educate and promote professionalism for new travel writers.
5) In order to promote tourism and educate the public about travel,
members of IABTW have continued writing articles, books, travel
guides and web pages. We also help to promote tourism by networking
with other organizations, and keeping the public abreast of information
on festivals, meetings, vacation spots, travel deals, sporting events
and other travel-related activities.
